Tribute Books Opens in Eynon

Nicole Langan, former associate editor of Happenings Magazine, has opened her own small business, Tribute Books, a desktop publishing facility in Eynon that creates party favors for life's special occasions.

Snapshots are turned into keepsake booklets combining a realm of family photo albums into one presentation piece.

Backed by a five-year tenure in publishing, Langan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communications from Marywood University and was the salutatorian of Bishop O'Hara High School's class of 1997.

After interviewing many local entrepreneurs during her time as associate editor, Langan decided in July 2004 to launch her own business endeavor. The idea for Tribute Books grew from planning the 90th birthday party of Nicole's grandmother, Marge Langan. Nicole's goal was to create a program for the October 2003 celebration. After rummaging through her grandmother's attic, she found cherished photos from her family's past. She combined these photos with messages from her family.

At the party, the program was a hit with the 75 guests. Long lost, rarely seen photos were added to the collections of everyone who attended. After reading the tributes written by Marge's offspring, every guest walked away knowing what a special person she is.

Langan brings her graphic design skills to work at making every tribute book unique. Personal touches are recognized and developed through a keen eye for detail and personality. Every life honored in a tribute book is researched and discussed with family members and friends. Each person's story is broken down and told in an easy-to-understand style.

"I enjoy working with people one-on-one in a creative way," Langan said. "Photo booklets are the perfect way to preserve and pass on shared family history."

Tribute Books' referral partners include Tiffany's Tap and Grill, Eynon; Rossi's, Archbald; the Regal Room, Olyphant; After Five Supper Club, Dickson City; Gramercy Ballroom, Pittston, and the Inne of the Abingtons, Dalton.
