On Saturday, July 10, 2010, author Kenny Luck of Thumbing Through Thoreau: A Book of Quotations by Henry David Thoreau traveled to Walden Pond to participate in the 69th Annual Gathering of the Thoreau Society.

Thoreau Society presenters spoke about how Thoreau and transcendentalism have inspired them as artists, photographers, and, of course, as teachers and educators. Presenters came from the global community, including: Bulgaria, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, and the United States. Thoreau and the transcendentalists continue to inspire readers around the world.

Kenny Luck meets Richard Smith, who endorsed Thumbing Through Thoreau. Smith is a Thoreau reenactor and a member of the Thoreau Society. "I was happy to finally meet him and thought he was a nice guy," recounts Luck.

Kenny Luck was among 25 authors from around the world invited by the Thoreau Society to participate in the signing. "As I sat at the author's table surrounded by the other authors, I thought, 'All of this work and here I am,'" says Luck. "It was kind of surreal and very memorable."

The signing took place at the Masonic Temple in Concord, Mass. "Overall, I was very happy that I attended this event," relates Luck. "The book signing was a success!" says Luck. "I sold a few books, and I think it was good exposure since I received many compliments on the book cover and layout."
